Something about Primošten

An extraordinary picturesque old city on a little islands, which was in the 16th century connected with the land through a dam (the name comes from the verb "primostiti" which means "to bridge"), kept the character of a fishing and labourer's village (the defensive walls with castles were ruined at the end of the 18th century).

Hundreds of little squares of red soil and big stone clusters characterize these terraced vineyard which were made literelly on rocky ground. Generations of labours have broken and removed the stones to plant the vines in little bit of their soil.

Vineyards of Primošten are on the list of UNESCO and their picture adorns the walls of UN.
